Congress Chief Whip Prasad Harichandan claimed the UPA government was giving about Rs 3,000 crore subsidy to the state including Rs 2,600 crore under food subsidy. He termed Odisha's claim of reducing poverty by 20 point, from 57 per cent to 37 per cent, as "false". He argued that if the state government was taking credit of poverty reduction rate, also based on NSSO report, why it termed as not accurate the NSSO's data on perceived adequacy of food consumption in Indian households.
